BBC Asian Network:
Live Event

When the connection fades, the message needs new energy.

Following research that revealed a decline in listeners among 18–34 year-old British Asians, BBC Asian Network responded by launching a new kind of experience — a live festival celebrating the best of British Asian music, hosted at the Eventim Apollo.

I was brought in to design two key posters promoting the event, with a clear brief: reconnect with a younger audience, visually and culturally.

The creative approach centred on energy and immediacy. Using photography of live performances as a foundation, I layered vibrant, contrasting gradients over the imagery to amplify the atmosphere and motion of the acts on stage. A bold, contemporary typeface cut through the colour — sharp, rhythmic, and accessible — helping to position the event as something fresh, current, and made for a new generation of listeners.

The design direction was built around capturing not just the performers, but the surge of energy that live music creates — helping BBC Asian Network turn up the volume on its new voice.
